Pickleball - A Game for the Whole FamilySports and FitnessPickleball is a game the whole family can play! There's never been a better time to introduce this fast-growing sport to kids, and to have the adults in their life join in the fun. Students will start with the basics of the game and each week progress with adding more skills, drills, and games. Weeks five and six the students will become the coaches, teaching their parent, guardian, or other special adult how to play! Join us for this fun, healthy activity and leave with a sport for life. No experience necessary, for the student or adult. Weeks 1-4: Students practice skills and learn the game. Weeks 5-6: A parent, guardian, or other special adult joins the student to learn the game. Wear athletic shoes, comfortable clothing, and sunscreen. Bring a water bottle and Pickleball paddle if you have one. Extreme EV3: BattlebotsSTEMThis camp will energize and excite students by combining the LEGO building system's versatility and the Mindstorms EV3 (the most sophisticated microcomputer brick ever made by LEGO). Working each day in teams, students will construct fun LEGO models, experiment with programs, and compete in robotic challenges. Robot building, block programming, and teamwork will be part of each day's activities. Final challenges will be centered around hitting targets and a sumo battle. Full-Day Preschool at Oakwood*Full-Day Preschool (4 Year Olds Only)Our much-loved preschool is part of our district's family of schools -- delivering excellence for each and every student. Preschool classes are inclusive and diverse. The classroom environment is warm and caring. Our teachers do an outstanding job of both preparing our preschoolers for kindergarten. We work closely with each student to ensure they develop the skills and achieve the standards necessary for an easy transition to kindergarten. Our full-day four-year-old preschool and childcare program (formerly known as Bright Start) is operated by Wayzata Public Schools' Community Ed department and coordinated by the Wayzata Early Learning School. The Full-Day preschool program is a curriculum-based program held during school hours and is a 5 day a week program. Registration is for all 5 school days, partial week contracts are not available. Children attend Monday through Friday. Hours of operation are from 7:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m. There are sites at each district elementary school. We also have part-day preschool options for children starting at age 2.
