Photography 101 - Making Great Photos
Special Interest

Join us at Wayzata Beach as we learn to take memorable pictures of our families and make beautiful portraits using nature as a backdrop. Professional photographer, David Sherman, will demystify the rules of exposure (aperture, shutter speed, ISO) and how to take control of your camera – be it a DSLR, point and shoot or cellphone. Learn how to stop taking and begin making pictures.

Defensive Driving 55+ (8 hour)
Special Interest

First time class for 10% discount on insurance. Save money on your car insurance premiums and become a better driver! Minnesota law requires insurance companies to offer you a 10% reduction for three years if you complete this National Safety Council's Defensive Driving course. The course is two sessions of classroom instruction - no driving or test is required. You will receive a certificate of completion to provide to your insurance company. Attendance at both sessions is required to receive your certificate. Bring your driver's license with you to class. The instructor is certified through the MN Safety Council. Class will take place on Zoom. You will need to pick up your materials at the Community Ed office at 17340 County Rd 6, Plymouth, MN 55447 a few days prior to class. You will receive more information by email. If you are unable to pick up the materials call our office for other options.

Defensive Driving for 55+ Refresher (4 hour)

Save money on your car insurance! If you have taken the state-approved, 8-hour Defensive Driving Course for 55+, now you can renew your 10%, three year car insurance discount by taking this state-approved 4-hour refresher course. You will receive a certificate of completion to provide to your insurance company. Bring your driver's license with you to class. For online class: You will need to pick up your materials at the Community Ed office at 17340 County Rd 6, Plymouth, MN 55447 a few days prior to class. You will receive more information by email. If you are unable to pick up the materials call our office for other options. Online classes will take place using Microsoft Teams.

Bicycle Tune Up and Maintenance
Special Interest

Learn all aspects of bicycle tuning, maintenance and minor repairs including gears, brakes, wheel truing and re-greasing at this hands-on class. Demonstrations will be done on bikes supplied by the instructor. Basic physics will be explained in the demonstration, including simple machines, gears, levers, and mechanical advantage. Bring your own bike to work on during class or practice on the instructor's bikes. The instructor will provide all tools and cleaning materials. Some spare parts will be available for student use and class handouts will be provided. This class is intended for those with little or no experience. Don't miss this opportunity to learn an important life-long skill! You will need to bring your bike home each evening (we are unable to store bikes in the school).

Infant and Child CPR for Parents and Caregivers
Special Interest

This non-certification course will cover infant and pediatric CPR for parents and caregivers, following the Heartsaver® curriculum from the American Heart Association. You will learn how to respond to an infant or child who is choking, how to perform CPR, and steps to follow during an emergency. This class is designed for parents and other caregivers and is sponsored by Wayzata Community Ed.
