Bike Ninjas: Jumps, Drops & Obstacles

Classes - Youth / Sports and Fitness -
Youth Classes Winter/Spring 2026

I am beyond excited to share my passion for biking with students this spring because biking checks so many boxes for physical and mental health.

This engaging, hands-on class introduces elementary-aged riders to the fundamentals of mountain biking while building safe, responsible trail habits. Through guided instruction, skill-building games, and real-time practice, students develop techniques that help them ride with greater confidence, control, and safety. Riders who have taken the class before are encouraged to join again because repetition builds skill, and there is always room to grow. All are welcome!

The class utilizes Ninja MTB jumps and landings to safely simulate the experience of riding a real jump line at a bike park, allowing students to practice proper technique in a controlled, confidence-building environment.

Skills Students Will Learn:

  • Jumping fundamentals– Approach, takeoff, landing, and safety using Ninja MTB jumps. We have some pretty sweet jumps!
  • Body position and balance– How to stand, sit, and shift weight for better control over jumps and obstacles.
  • Shifting gears– When and how to shift for hills, flats, and speed.
  • Cornering skills– Smooth leaning and steering through turns.
  • Obstacle riding– Safely navigating simulated rollers and drops, big and small.
  • Goal setting– Riders set personal goals at the beginning of the six-week course to track progress and continue growth.

By combining all of these biking concepts, riders leave the class with increased confidence, measurable goals, and a strong sense of what a positive biking community feels like all while smiling every moment of class. Trust me, they cannot get enough of catching air on their bike!

STEAM Visionaries - Todd Brandell

I am a licensed elementary teacher and an avid mountain biker with a passion for sharing the benefits of the outdoors with students. My goal is to bring the sport of mountain biking to my community, creating opportunities for young people to build confidence, learn new skills, and foster a love of nature. In a world where technology often takes center stage, I believe it’s important to provide experiences that encourage students to appreciate the outdoors, develop resilience, and stay active in meaningful ways. I also want the mountain bike community to continue to grow, creating a lasting culture of adventure, wellness, and connection.
