  • Summer Math by Mail: Grades 3-6

For students entering Grades 3-6 in Fall 2024. Keep your math skills sharp over the summer! This 10-week correspondence program was developed by a veteran teacher. Materials that students will cover during the summer review support concepts they have encountered during their previous school year. Summer Math By Mail is not a tutoring program, and it is not an enrichment program to advance students ahead. It offers practice of previously learned concepts to keep skills sharp and build confidence. A pre-test will be sent in mid-June for each student to fill out the questionnaire to individualize their program. Students will then receive nine weeks of materials. Each week’s packet will include five math lessons with problem-solving activities. The activities will apply to a specific math concept or strand. After the student has completed a packet, they will mail it in. We’ll make corrections, provide feedback and mail it back. Students may start and finish the course at their own pace throughout the strands. All packets must be returned by August 11 to ensure timely feedback for the 2024-2025 school year. Registration closes June 25.
  • Summer Math by Mail: Grades 1-2

For students entering grades 1 - 2 in Fall 2024. One-Two Summer Math by Mail has been developed to review and enrich math concepts for graduating kindergartners and first graders. The curriculum is designed exclusively for students entering first and second grade in the fall. Summer Math By Mail is not a tutoring program and it is not designed to advance students ahead. It offers practice of previously learned concepts to keep skills sharp and build confidence. A pre-test will be sent in mid-June to determine math skills and individualize the program. Participants will then receive 10-weeks of lessons. After students have completed a week’s worth of work, mail it in and we will make corrections, provide comments and mail it back. Students work at their own pace. Kids love receiving their returned assignments each week in the mail! When all lessons are completed, students will receive a restaurant meal coupon. All packets are due by August 11 in order to provide timely feedback for the 2024-2025 school year. Registration closes on June 25.
  • Math-By-Mail Middle School & High School Prep

Math practice accompanied by enrichment activities for the upcoming summer months, created by current middle school math teachers with 50+ years of combined experience! Math-by-Mail is expanding its options to do math! Not only are we offering our predetermined set of 8 packets, we will also offer an ala carte menu! Our added approach allows for individual choice regarding the skills and concepts students and parents can request to build math confidence. Still an 8 week course with a self paced approach! Student completed packets should be mailed (USPS) to Math-by-Mail. We will then provide feedback and return corrected packets to students via USPS. As always the goal of Math-by-Mail is to provide rich content to maintain mathematical understanding! Math-by-Mail is a summer opportunity to keep young minds active with this locally developed curriculum. Minnesota State Standards, Math Frameworks MCA strands, and current Minnesota Benchmarks are the foundational basis for this curriculum. With creative problem solving, multiple choice, short answer and vocabulary embedded into an 8-week course of independent study, students will maintain or increase the level of their math understanding, in addition to reviewing the recommended targets suggested by grade level in the Minnesota School Academic Standards for mathematics. Each student will be given a pretest to assess the appropriate skill level necessary to strengthen their individual math needs, unlike other programs that are exclusively grade level driven. Students will receive an 8-lesson packet to complete at their own pace throughout the summer. As students finish packets, they are mailed back for feedback and then returned to the students. **All packets are due back by August 9 in order to provide timely feedback before the 2024 school year begins. Please reach out at any time if you have questions. Registration closes June 28, 2024.
