The MathWiz for Middle School program is a long term honors Algebra 1 course for the accelerated students. In this program, students will extend the topics introduced in pre-algebra. The topics include the Structure and Properties of Real-Numbers, Linear Equations and Inequalities, Polynomials, Rational Expressions, Roots and Radicals, Relations and Functions, Exponential Functions, Quadratic Equations and Inequalities, Data Analysis and Probability. The program focuses on problem solving and logic, dwells into Pre-Algebra, Beginning of Algebra, Beginning of Geometry, for a deeper understanding with an academic rigor culminating in getting into university level course including UMTYMP or testing out of high school Algebra for the Pre-Calculus admissions.Class sessions include in-class lectures, assignments, individualized webwork and web assignments, periodic quizzes, and graded assessments. In this program, students commit to work on the course material for at least half hour a day, four times a week. Each new concept is reinforced with a series of problems of added complexity.
