Wayzata Mountain Bike Team
Like adrenaline? Like adventure? Join the Co-Ed Wayzata Mountain Bike Team. It's open to students entering 6th-12th grade. Beginners through advanced mountain bikers are welcome. Regular season practices start the week of July 26. The season runs through October. A cross-country mountain bike and helmet are required. Practice dates and locations change frequently throughout the season. Refer to Team Snap or coaches emails for up to date information on practice dates and locations. Practice locations vary and may include schools, parks and local trailheads. Check Team Snap each day for updates on trail conditions and practice locations. Team racers compete in 4 or 5 races throughout the state from August through October. Participants provide own bike, helmet and transportation. New participants need to purchase a Wayzata team jersey for competitions (Approx. $60). Minnesota High School Cycling League membership and insurance are required, for an additional fee of approximately $100. Race series fees are also additional (5 races at approx. $50 each), or pay $250 for both the league membership and all the races. Check out the website Wayzata Mountain Bike TeamAfter registering with Wayzata Community Education, you will receive an email invitation from the Coach to register with the National Interscholastic Cycling Association (NICA). Registering with NICA and signing the waiver is a requirement of team participation. Families will also receive an email invitation to join Team Snap. Joining Team Snap and keeping your information updated is important, as this is the primary way that coaches communicate with families. Coaches will contact families after registration with schedules and information. Questions call 763-745-5205. COVID safety protocols, preparedness plans, MDH guidelines and race structure details will be shared before the first practice. All students are required to have a sports qualifying physical examination prior to the start of the season.
